Texans Make Blockbuster Trade in Final Daniel Jeremiah Mock Draft
The Houston Texans have two premium picks in Thursday's 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City. And according to the final mock from NFL.com draft expert Daniel Jeremiah, they are set to make major headlines.
Things will get started for the Texans with the No. 2 overall pick, where Jeremiah has Houston going with quarterback C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State - filling arguably their biggest need, with one of the top overall players in the class.
"There is a lot of information swirling around this pick, but I keep coming back to common sense," Jeremiah said. "Houston needs a quarterback, and Stroud’s the best one available at No 2."
However, that's where things start to heat up for the Texans, with Jeremiah predicting that the Texans will trade their No. 12 overall pick, along with substantial additional draft capital to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for the No. 3 pick.
And with that pick, the Texans would secure arguably the best overall player in the draft, in Alabama defensive end/edge rusher Will Anderson - a player that, per TexansDaily.com sources, new head coach DeMeco Ryans is leaning toward taking.
"It’s no secret that Arizona wants to trade out of No. 3, and it’s no secret that Houston is seriously considering an edge rusher with the second pick," Jeremiah said. "Both teams get what they want in this scenario. Houston now has a pillar on each side of the ball."
Should this scenario, however likely or unlikely it might be, come to pass, the Texans would not only have instant upgrades and potential future stars at their two biggest needs but arguably the important positions on the entire team.
And as a result, the Texans would likely win the Night 1 of the NFL Draft.
