The Titans will not wear their Houston Oilers throwback jerseys during a Week 18 road match against the Houston Texans.

HOUSTON — Fans inside NRG Stadium may feel weird watching former All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins record receptions in Houston as a member of the Tennessee Titans. But at least fans will not have to watch Hopkins don the jerseys of the Houston Oilers.

According to beat reporter Jim Wyatt, the Titans will not wear their Oilers throwback jerseys on Dec. 31 during an AFC South battle against the Houston Texans.

"The team is not going to wear the Oilers throwbacks in Houston, at least not this year," Wyatt said. " After previously thinking the Titans could wear them once on the road this year, I'm not expecting that any longer. It doesn't sound like that's going to work out as initially hoped."

The Titans will bring back the classic Oilers jerseys this season. The team has not announced which games will feature the classic uniforms, but the Titans will stick to their normal attire during a Week 18 road match against the Texans.

The Oilers became an NFL franchise in 1960 and spent over three decades as Houston's original team. The Oilers relocated to Tennessee in 1997. And despite re-branding to the "Titans,'' the franchise retained ownership of the name and team branding of the "Oilers.''

The 2009 season marked the last time the Titans wore their Oilers uniform. It came during the Titans' 41-17 victory over the Buffalo Bills as part of their 50th-anniversary celebration.

Robert Brazile, Earl Campbell and Warren Moon are a few legends who established the Oilers as contenders during their time in Houston.

The Oilers' finest season came during the 1993 campaign when Houston won a franchise-best 12 wins. Moon recorded his sixth consecutive Pro Bowl after throwing for 3,485 yards and 21 touchdowns.
