Texans BREAKING: C.J. Stroud Signs Rookie Contract - All Guaranteed, $24 Mil Upfront

The big contract is a done deal, C.J. Stroud coming to terms with Houston on the way to become the Texans’ rookie QB starter.
In this story:

When the Houston Texans took Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick in the most recent NFL Draft, it suggested their faith in him to be the next franchise quarterback - and maybe to be a rookie starter.

Even though Stroud is the presumed starter by many, though, first things first, as there is the matter of the big contract that comes with all of that …

And now the big contract is a done deal, Stroud on Monday coming to terms with Houston as his slotted four-year contract.

The terms? The QB gets $36.3 milion overall, including a signing bonus of $23.38 million … and all of that money is fully guaranteed. Additionally, in a reported Houston change in the way it’s done business before, Stroud gets his entire signing bonus upfront.

There has yet to be an official announcement of the starting job by new coach DeMeco Ryans. But with training camp starting up, is it expected that either Stroud has earned the starting job …

Or that he will do so soon enough, as we envision Stroud to likely start Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, emerging from having been competing for the starting job with the incumbent Davis Mills. … and getting busy earning all that money - not just as  the future of the franchise but also as its present.
