Texans' Biggest Offseason 'Priority' Revealed: Get C.J. Stroud Help?
The Houston Texans have been one of the biggest winners of the offseason so far. They landed their franchise quarterback in Ohio State's C.J. Stroud, a cornerstone defensive piece to build around, in Alabama's Will Anderson Jr. on defense, as well key depth later in the draft.
Outside of the draft, they also had a productive free agency, bringing in a pair of veteran offensive playmakers from the Dallas Cowboys, Noah Brown and Dalton Schultz.
However, even with all of those aforementioned moves, questions remain about Houston's roster. With plenty of time still, to go before the start of the season, NFL.com believes the biggest remaining priority this offseason should be adding reliable receiver help.
"After trading away Brandin Cooks, Houston's cast of wideouts looms as suspect," NFL.com wrote. "Nico Collins is a promising third-year building block. Hope surrounds John Metchie III's return from acute promyelocytic leukemia."
"From there, though, Robert Woods, Noah Brown, and a whole bunch of inexperience round out the cast. General manager Nick Caserio isn't afraid to churn the roster, so expect the Texans to find veteran assistance in time."
Robert Woods, alongside Brown and Schultz, highlighted the weapons Houston added in free agency for their eventual franchise quarterback, which became Stroud when he was drafted second overall.
However, they also added playmakers in the later rounds of the draft as well - namely receiver Tank Dell out of Houston, per the apparent instruction of their new rookie quarterback.
Having plenty of depth at the skill positions on offense is a necessity, however, the Texans are likely content with where they stand offensively. That being said, though, don't be surprised if they aren't done adding weapons for Stroud to work with.
