The Houston Texans are locked in a battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars at halftime of Sunday's game, trailing 13-7 at home.

The Jaguars struck first on a 40-yard field goal from Brandon McManus in the first quarter, and they extended their advantage to 10-0 on a one-yard touchdown rush by quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Houston, however, was able to answer on the ensuing possession as C.J. Stroud evaded pressure and found Tank Dell in the end zone from seven yards out.

The Jags settled for a 48-yard field goal from McManus late in the first half, and the Texans had a promising drive in the works near the end of the second quarter before a pass from Stroud to Dell was ruled incomplete along the sideline.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans then opted for a field goal attempt of his own, one that sailed wide right from 50 yards out. Texans kicker Matt Ammendola is now 0-for-4 in his career in field goals from 50-plus yards away.

In the final possession of the half, Trevor Lawrence found wideout Christian Kirk for a 57-yard gain, going out of bounds at the one-yard line. With one second left on the clock, the Texans defense stood tall and kept the Jags out of the end zone as time expired.

As a team, the Texans have just 169 yards of total offense. By comparison, the Jaguars have amassed 247 yards, but the final play of the half seems to have given Houston momentum heading into the locker room.

At the end of the first half, Stroud has gone 12-of-16 through the air for 135 yards, and he is also the team's leading rusher with 30 yards on the ground. The Texans received the football to start the game, a drive that ended in a punt, so the Jaguars will receive to start the second half.
