The Houston Texans hinted at big news with cryptic social media posts for the last week, and many conspiracy theorists nailed it: J.J. Watt is officially being inducted into the Texans Ring of Honor

"Humbled, honored and excited to be back," Watt responded to the announcement on Twitter. "Can’t say I ever expected to build a bond so strongly with a city I had never been to, but man did we ever."

"I am forever grateful. H-Town will forever be family. Can't wait to reunite."

Watt, originally booed on draft night, embraced the rocky Houston welcome with open arms, a city he was truly unfamiliar with. And while he spent the last two years with the Arizona Cardinals, his legacy is Texan.

The 34-year-old spent 10 years in Space City, en route to winning three AP Defensive Player of the Year awards as arguably the best NFL defender in the 2010s.

While in a Texans uniform, Watt totaled 531 tackles, 172 tackles for loss, and 101 sacks. He also forced 25 fumbles, recovered 16, picked off two balls, and scored three touchdowns in an immaculate Houston career.

The organization announced Watt as the third-ever inductee into the Ring of Honor, placing him next to legendary receiver Andre Johnson and team founder Bob McNair.

The ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 1, the same day the Texans host the Steelers. One of the best veteran linebackers in the NFL will be in attendance, suited up for Pittsburgh, allowing Watt to enjoy his Ring of Honor ceremony alongside his brother T.J.
