'We Need That!': Laremy Tunsil Hopes Texans LT Can Recreate Astros Magic in Houston

Houston has seen its share of sports disappointment, especially considering the struggles of its major sports teams. The Astros broke through, however, winning two World Series', and now the Texans are looking to be the next to win it all.
In this story:

Next year's Houston Texans squad is going to look very different from the team that took the field last season.

Numerous roster additions on both sides of the ball to go along with a fresh coaching staff have put the young team in a position to improve on all fronts, though how far they can go has yet to be seen.

Some have labeled Houston as the AFC South's surprise team, while others have said they won't be much better next season, despite the new look.

But if one thing is certain, fans would love to see a successful Texans team after a few subpar seasons ... though they might have seen something like it before within their own city.

Back in 2009, the Houston Astros were relevant, but not good. They had made it deep in the playoffs in the past, but a spell of losing seasons kept the city discouraged, especially considering the lack of success from the Rockets and Texans.

The Astros' struggles continued for a span of six years. But in 2015, Houston turned it around and made the playoffs, beginning a streak of winning seasons that was only broken during the shortened COVID-19 season.

In that span, Houston won two World Series titles and brought the city back to the top of the sports world. Now it's the Texans' turn to try and do the same.

"They won two [championships]," Texans LT Laremy Tunsil said. "We need that. Whatever they [went] through, we're going through too. We need that run, for sure."

Armed with new talent on both sides of the ball, the Texans could be the next in line to make a deep run in the postseason.

And if they do end up winning a title, Tunsil will be the main reasons why. Although whether or not the Texans could ever reach the level of love that the Astros hold in Houston remains to be seen.

The Texans' 2023-24 campaign begins on the road against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Sept. 10.
