Texans LB Garret Wallow 'Taking it Day by Day' on Ankle Surgery Rehab
Houston Texans linebacker Garret Wallow was a key depth piece on the Texans defense in 2022, and looks to take another step forward heading into next season.
But first, he will have to get healthy, after suffering an ankle injury that forced him to have surgery at the end of the regular season.
Wallow recently spoke to a group at Harvard's Boys & Girls Club in Houston, giving an update on his rehabilitation and the progress he has made thus far.
"Yeah, absolutely, just taking it day by day, rehabbing hard with the Texans training staff," Wallow said. "They know what they’re doing. So, just go in there and give 110 percent with them and try to get back full speed as quick as possible."
Wallow, who played in 13 games and started three for the Texans, seems confident he'll be ready for training camp, which begins in July.
"I’m not sure about offseason [workouts]," Wallow said. "I think the plan right now is to keep rehabbing, but see how fast I rehab and just making sure that I put my body in the best position to be back 100 percent and be back ready to go."
Wallow had 13 total tackles (six solo), and one tackle for loss from his reserve linebacker spot.
The Texans own the No. 2 and No. 12 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft on April 27 in Kansas City.
Houston kicks off the 2023 NFL regular season on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.
