Texans Select Iowa State WR Xavier Hutchinson With Pick No. 205
It has been an eventful NFL draft for the Houston Texans as they are adding to a strong rookie class after selecting Iowa State receiver Xavier Hutchinson at pick No. 205 in the sixth round.
Hutchinson joins Tank Dell out of Houston in a quickly revamped Texans receiver room after putting together a career year in his final season at Iowa State. He recorded 1,171 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 107 receptions, averaging a reliable 10.7 yards per catch.
After getting their franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud the Texans have made sure to surround him with weapons, as Hutchinson and Dell will join offseason acquisitions Dalton Schultz, Noah Brown and Robert Woods.
If Hutchinson can translate his ability to play both in the slot and as an outside receiver with the Texans, then Houston will be more than happy to walk away with the Iowa State product as a sixth-round pick.
"Hutchinson’s effort and attention to detail create separation and YAC opportunities, but he might find those opportunities harder to come by if he stays as an outside receiver in the NFL," SI Draft Bible wrote about Hutchinson.
The Houston Texans will be on the clock once again with pick No.
