'That's What I Bring!': WR Robert Woods Details Role in Texans Offense

After signing with Houston this offseason, Robert Woods has plenty of confidence about what he brings to the Texans offense.
In this story:

The Houston Texans had a rather busy offseason. Of course, the headliner so far was the selection of Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud at No. 2 overall, followed by a trade up to No. 3 overall to select Alabama outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr.

If there wasn't a buzz surrounding the Texans entering the season before the draft, there definitely is now. While those moves are exciting, another move has the potential to be one of the best off-season additions.

Houston signed veteran receiver Robert Woods in free agency prior to the draft, giving Stroud a key weapon to rely on as he transitions to the NFL. Woods' experience will help a rather young roster in Houston, as he detailed what he brings to the Texans' offense.

"In this offense, receivers are asked to do a lot," Woods said. "That's obviously run crisp routes, make plays down the field, be able to take the ball for short catches, get a lot of YAC, and make guys miss. Being able to get sweeps and being able to block D-ends."

"This offense, receivers, are asked to be a true playmaker and play everywhere on the field. That's what I'm able to bring. I'm able to block, able to catch, good routes, have good speed."

Bringing in Woods, alongside Dalton Schultz and Noah Brown this offseason, was a savvy move for the Texans. Not only do they get a reliable weapon, but they also get a receiver who will thrive in their offense.

"[I] match up well against outside corners, nickel corners," Woods said. "That's why being in this offense, being able to play all around, move all around, will help me and this offense."
