Texans Re-Sign Special Teams Standout Kris Boyd To One-Year Deal
The Houston Texans have agreed to terms with veteran cornerback Kris Boyd on a one-year deal, according to KPRC2 Sports.
Boyd, a former University of Texas standout, was a key contributor on special teams near the end of the regular season.
Boyd began his time with Houston on the practice before being elevated to the active roster in December. He recorded three tackles in the wild-card round win over the Cleveland Browns and was a staple on kickoff, kickoff return, and punts.
Drafted in the seventh round in 2019 by the Minnesota Vikings, Boyd began the 2023 season as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. In four games, he totaled two tackles.
Since leaving the Forty Acres, Boyd has played with three teams. In five seasons, he's totaled 97 tackles, two forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and three pass deflections.
Boyd is the sixth Texans player to re-sign since the start of the offseason. Tight end Dalton Schultz agreed to terms on a three-year, $36 million deal before the franchise tag deadline.
Kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn agreed to terms on a three-year, $15.9 million contract earlier this week. Defensive backs Desmond King and Eric Murray, along with defensive tackle Khalil Davis also agreed to one-year contracts
