Draft Day Shocker? Texans 'Quietly' Meet With Kentucky QB Will Levis

With C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young seen as the consensus two best quarterbacks, the Texans still made sure to do their draft homework on Will Levis.
In this story:

When the Houston Texans are finally on the clock with the No. 2 pick, all signs point to them taking their next franchise quarterback. Who that quarterback will be, though, is of course still yet to be seen.

As it currently stands the consensus is that the first two picks off the board will be Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Alabama's Bryce Young, with the Texans set to pick who the Panthers don't at No. 1 overall.

However, Kentucky's Will Levis and Florida's Anthony Richardson seemingly are the next quarterback prospects up - with Ian Rapoport reporting that the Texans had a top-30 visit with Levis.

"From the teams that went to dinner with him, the Carolina Panthers, the Las Vegas Raiders spent time with him, Mike Vrabel from the Tennessee Titans spent time with him," Rapoport said. "(Levis) actually pretty quietly had a top-30 visit with the Houston Texans; that happened over the last several weeks."

After transferring from Penn State to Kentucky, Levis became one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in this draft class. In his two seasons with the Wildcats, he threw for 5,232 yards with 43 touchdowns and 23 interceptions while completing 65.7 percent of his passes.

Of course, a top-30 visit doesn't automatically mean the Texans are drafting him with the second pick. Rather, they're likely just doing their due diligence and scouting one of the top prospects in the draft.

The Texans find themselves in a prime position in next month's draft to land their next franchise quarterback, whoever that may be.

And, while Stroud or Young are the likely picks, anything can happen when they're on the clock.
