Texans vs. Jaguars: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Houston Texans travel to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars at Everbank Stadium on Sunday in a matchup between two teams searching for answers on offense.
The Texans have scored a total of 29 points through two games and are ranked 29th in the league. Jacksonville scored just nine points against the Chiefs last week in their home opener and is last in the league in third-down conversions just at 25 percent.
Both teams hope to do better on Sunday. “It’s just remembering who we are,” Jaguars receiver Christian Kirk said. “One bad game doesn’t define us. Obviously, it’s frustrating. ... It just goes back to us kind of being a little out of character and just pressing and trying to make plays that weren’t there.”
The Jaguars hoped to be better as the reigning AFC South champions and returning nine offensive starters from that division-winning team. They also added an offensive weapon in wideout Calvin Ridley.
Jacksonville labored for points in most of its game against Indianapolis in the opener before scoring two touchdowns in the final six minutes, one off a turnover. But the Jags struggled to run the ball and protect quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Houston hasn't been much better. Rookie signal-caller C.J. Stroud threw for 384 yards and two scores last week against Indy but was also sacked six times and lost one of two fumbles. Running back Dameon Pierce mustered just 31 yards on 15 carries.
Stroud has been sacked a league-high 11 times so far while working behind an injury-riddled offensive line.
