Injury-Riddled Houston Texans Sputter Offensively, Drop Road Game vs. New York Jets
Simply put, it was not the Houston Texans' day on Sunday.
Houston dropped a 30-6 game to the New York Jets on the road in Week 14 behind an abysmal offensive performance in rainy conditions, and it suffered a multitude of injuries in the process. Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, one of the best stories in the NFL to this point of the season, left the game in the fourth quarter with an injury and did not return.
Stroud finished the day with just 91 passing yards and no scores. Other Texans who left the game with injuries on Sunday include wide receiver Nico Collins, linebacker Blake Cashman and linebacker Will Anderson.
The game between the Jets and Texans was locked in a scoreless tie at halftime, but New York scored on back-to-back possessions to open the second half and claim a 14-0 lead. Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, who had arguably his best performance of the season, fumbled on New York's third possession, leading to a scoring drive from the Texans, capped off by a touchdown rush from Devin Singletary.
That score marked the only points of the day for Houston, and it was in the fourth quarter that the Texans revealed that Stroud was officially in concussion protocol after he left the game.
In a day that started strongly for the Texans' defense, the second half saw things unravel as Wilson finished the game with 301 passing yards and two touchdowns, helping his team pull away after halftime.
BREAKING: C.J. Stroud Leaves Field With Injury vs. Jets
