Grading A Full Seven-Round Titans Mock Draft

On Tuesday, the good folks at Draft Countdown released a full seven-round post-combine mock draft. To say that some of the selections are surprising might be an understatement.

NASHVILLE - NFL mock drafts have become an industry of their own in recent years, as you can find them from multiple sources this time of year. They are fun to do and fun for readers to see and discuss the good and bad of each draft in the readers' opinion.

On Tuesday, Draft Countdown released a full seven-round mock, which, if you've never done one, is hard to do if you look to address the actual needs of 32 teams over 262 predictions

As for the Titans, this draft went along the lines of most others as they addressed the obvious need for offensive line help.

Here's their seven round for Tennessee.

Round One, No.11 - Paris Johnson Jr., Offensive Tackle, Ohio St: As with most mock drafts, Johnson Jr. is a safe selection here as it addresses the team's biggest need at one of the most important positions.

Round Two, No.41 -Jalin Hyatt, Wide Reciever, Tennessee: Another need filled as the Titans need help at receiver, where the selection of Hyatt adds a freakish athlete with exceptional speed- though his combine numbers were slower than expected- to a team in desperate need of some game changers on offense.

Round Three, No.72 - D.J. Turner, Cornerback, Michigan: Turner blew people away with his blistering 4.26 forty at the combine. The Titans could use help in this position, but there were some other potential players available that might have made more sense at other times positions. Still, with the uncertainty surrounding Caleb Farley, it's hard to be upset with this addition.

Round Four: None

Round Five, No. 149- Max Duggan, Quarterback, TCU: Duggan provided an excellent final season leading the Horned Frogs to the national championship game. However, this is the first selection in this draft that I feel was a wasted pick for the Titans in this draft.

Round Six, No. 186- Juice Scruggs- Offensive Line, Penn State: Adding to the offensive line with a player who can play both guard spots on the interior is a solid pick and hard to argue here.

Round Seven No. 230- BJ Thompson, Edge, SF Austin: Adding pass rushers is never bad, and it's admittedly harder to find players that fit 230 picks into the draft. I don't know much about Thompson, so now it's time to find some film and see if these guys hit on something here for the Titans.

In The End

While I might have chosen some different players, it's hard to argue with this effort from the standpoint of filling definite needs on the Titans roster, with the only exception being the aforementioned Duggin pick, which could have gone for another offensive playmaker rather than a developmental quarterback that might not even stick on the roster.

Overall, I'd give this a solid A for what it did. Not the best I've seen, but not the worst either.
