NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans should have been paying attention to all of the offensive linemen at the 2023 NFL Combine, but they wouldn’t have to look too hard to notice Paris Johnson Jr. Johnson dominated his combine appearance and The Athletic’s draft expert Dane Brugler has the Titans selecting the talented left tackle at the eleventh pick.

Johnson checked all the boxes at the 2023 NFL Combine. His measurements show ideal left tackle size. Johnson came in at 6’6 3/8” and 313 pounds with 36 1/8” arm length. It wasn’t just in the measurements though, Johnson went into his drills and showed a fluidity and smoothness that popped off the screen. Johnson having skill position feet at that size will be something NFL teams covet.

Johnson did not run a 40-yard dash at the combine and intends to do so at his pro day in Columbus, but it is hard to imagine he would do poorly enough for it to affect his stock in any major way. He should remain one of the top offensive lineman in the NFL Draft after the play he has put on tape and the performance he had at the combine.

Speaking of Columbus, Ohio, if the Titans do draft Johnson it means they will have a trio of former Buckeyes on the offensive line. Something that Brugler pointed out in his analysis of the pick.

“The Titans’ current offensive tackle depth chart is sparse. The good news is their need matches up well with the talent that should be available around this pick,” Burgler said. “Not only does Johnson fit the profile of what the Titans covet at the position, the Ohio State connection wouldn’t hurt. Adding Johnson would give Ohio State alum Mike Vrabel an all-Buckeye OT depth chart of Johnson, Nicholas Petit-Frere and Jamarco Jones.”

Other than the Ohio State connection, Brugler pointed out the Titans’ offensive tackle situation which is the most important factor in the decision. With Taylor Lewan released and Petit-Frere potentially having to kick inside to guard, the Titans desperately need help on the edge of the offensive line. This selection would be a perfect marriage of talent and need.
