NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans used their first pick on the final day of the 2023 NFL Draft to add former University of Cincinnati tight end Josh Whyle with the 147th selection in the fifth round.

In his final season with the Bearcats, Whyle collected 32 receptions for 326 yards and three touchdowns. In his college career,  he recorded 88 receptions, 1,061 yards, and 15 scores.

Whyle was a Senior Bowl participant, a three-time All-AAC selection (2020-2021-2022), and a first-team All-AAC pick in 2022.

The newest Titans joined the local media on a conference call shortly after his selection and was asked if he is a better pass-catcher or blocker as a tight end.

"I think naturally, pass-catcher, just because I grew up a wide receiver. I transitioned to tight end halfway through high school, but especially this last year of college, I think I really improved inside the box in blocking," said Whyle. "My technique, blocking, and footwork, so, if that answered your question, but definitely pass catching, and I think I've improved a lot in the box."

Whyle also played special teams for the Bearcats and spent time as an h-back, which gives him the versatility that the Titans have spoken of during this pre-draft period.
