Why Do Titans Fans Hate Potential Levis Pick?

Will Levis is considered one of the top four quarterbacks in the coming NFL Draft, but most Titans fans hate the thought of him as a potential target for the Tennessee Titans.

In this story:

NASHVILLE - Will Levis, Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Anthony Richardson are the top four quarterbacks in the upcoming draft. All are deemed first-round talents and could all be gone in the top ten selections.

While Young and Stroud are considered more NFL-ready, Richardson and Levis are believed to be more developmental prospects for fans of the Tennesse Titans, and any conversation about him is sure to turn negative.

He has the prototypical size NFL teams covet, at 6'4", 230 lbs, with a big-time arm, capable of making every throw, and being an adequate runner when needed. He has natural skills that can't be taught.

He's also shown a willingness to work to improve his conditioning, as indicated by this pre-combine report from Sports Illustrated

What is it about Levis that Titans fans are so against?

Having watched Levis during the season and on film during this draft process, the issues with his game are apparent and understandable as to why fans aren't high on the possibility of their team selecting him.

He was turnover prone at Kentucky and played through some injuries during his senior season that likely impacted his performance. But perhaps the biggest negative following Levis is why couldn't he beat out Sean Clifford, who is not on any NFL radar when they were teammates at Penn State.

At the same time, there have been questions about his toughness and even rumors of other issues with his leadership and character.

According to a source I've spoken with over the last few days, the rumors of Levis's lack of leadership and character are just rumors.

"I've been tracking him since last season, and we've dug into every inch of him," said a  source, speaking under the condition of anonymity. "I've talked to his coaches at Kentucky, Penn State, and even his high school and he's gotten nothing but solid support all around."

This is the time of year when it is wise to question negative reports about players, as some teams will "leak" negative information in an attempt to sway other teams away from prospects.

While that might not be the case here, the source I've spoken with felt confident about Levis's character.

Then there is the report that he has "bombed" interviews with some teams.

Levis is scheduled to visit Nashville and the Titans on Thursday as one of the team's top 30 visits, and while the Titans have already spent time with him, they will have one last chance to evaluate him in person.

While I'm not of the camp that would move up to select Levis or even consider him an option at No.11, should the Titans select him, it would mean that general manager Ran Carthon and head coach Mike Vrabel believe in him enough to hitch their futures to him.

That alone is enough for me to ignore all the chatter and negativity being thrown about and wait to see what he is able to do at the NFL level.
