NASHVILLE- Fans of the Tennessee Titans are on pins and needles awaiting any word on the status of star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons pending contract negotiations. So even the slightest comments by "Big Jeff" gets attention quickly.

On Friday afternoon, in what now appears to have been a playful tweet, Simmons posted what could easily be construed as a goodbye post to Titans fans.

"Titans Nation, thank you for the last 4 years! I am so grateful for you guys…..," wrote Simmons.

Almost immediately, fans began commenting, and within the first twenty minutes, there were 150-plus comments.

Simmons then let his fan off the hook with his second post, proclaiming, "But we are not done yet, dammit! LFG!!!! We have so much work to do!"

This was Simmons way of sharing the news that he has agreed in principle to a new four-year extension, as first reported by ESPN Nashville's Turron Davenport, keeping him in Nashville with the Titans.

While terms of the new deal have not been released, this is arguably the biggest free agent signing the Titans could have had this offseason.
