Much Too Early Look At Titans 2024 Draft

Here we are, just two days past the completion of the 2023 NFL Draft, and it's time to take a much too early look at the 2023 edition.

NASHVILLE - Six new members were added to the roster of the Tennessee Titans last weekend, as the 2023 NFL Draft ran through Nashville and the 31 other league cities. When all was said and done, the Titans received much higher grades than many thought possible with the lack of flashy players among that draft haul.

While the dust hasn't settled yet, and now these new rookies have stepped onto the practice fields, it's time to turn our attention toward the 2024 draft edition.

No, I'm not going to try to predict who the Titans will take 12 months from now; that would be a waste of time, given that we can't know what their needs will be until we see what this '23 team looks like on the field when the 53-man roster is completed, and how they perform during the 17 games we know they automatically get to participate in during the regular season.

But let's look at what we know: once again, the Titans will be short on draft capital, with only five picks at present. Those selections are a 1st, 2cd, 4th, and two in the 7th round. Of course, the Titans can get more choices, either as compensatory picks or by trading away players to add to their draft stockpile.

Otherwise, the Titans will be limited in what they can do during the draft. Conversely, the Titans will be flush with cash, estimated at somewhere near $124 million.

While that's a lot of money to spend in free agency to fill holes that might exist then, it's always better to be able to add younger, less expensive pieces in the draft, so general manager Ran Carthin and his staff must maximize their resources in next years draft, much like the did this time.

Of course, the Titans will likely have a decidedly different look next season, as both Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry are expected to be gone when their contracts expire at the end of the coming season.

However, it would seem that the Titans have already found their replacements in rookie quarterback Will Levis and rookie running back Tyjae Spears. The biggest question is, how much playing time will Levis receive this season, and will he be ready to take the helm next season?

Only time will answer those questions, but if those answers aren't positive, Caleb WIlliams and Drake Maye await at the top of next year's quarterback class.

At the same time, if the answers are positive, Marvin Harrison Jr. would be a tremendous first-round addition. The only problem there is the Titans have to be bad enough in '23 to be close enough to the top to get him.
