Jim Nantz Weighs In On Henry Trade Rumors
NASHVILLE - Add Jim Nantz to the list of NFL experts who have weighed in on the latest Derrick Henry trade rumors.
On Monday, the veteran NFL, college basketball, and golf play-by-play great, who lives in the Nashville area, called into 104.5 The Zone's afternoon radio program 3HL, surprising the hosts, Brent Daugherty, Ron Slay, and Dawn Davenport in the process.
It had been reported earlier in the day that the Tennessee Titans had "shopped' star running back Derrick Henry for a possible trade deal.
Nantz doesn't believe such a deal will happen, so he took to the local airwaves to share that thought.
"I hear you talking about Derrick, I hear you talking about all this trade talk," said Nantz. "Let me just weigh in on that since I cover the NFL...I just don't see you trading Derrick Henry."
While Nantz is not the final word on what the Titans are planning to do here, he is one in the know within the league, and his opinion is as strong as anyone in the media.
Nantz didn't share his thought as to if Henry was indeed shopped, but it was clear he thought it would happen.
A source with knowledge of the events has told AllTitans that the team has indeed "shopped" Henry on more than one occasion, though there were never any serious discussions toward consummating a deal.
The likelihood of this story continuing until draft day should be considered high, and we will all have to wait and see how things play out. As for now, Henry is still a Titan and a very popular one at that.
