NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans are getting closer and closer to kicking off training camp next week, but we are still squarely in the middle of "list season" in the NFL and while Byard has been disrespected recently, he was given his due props by Madden NFL 2024.

Byard will come in at a 92 overall rating, tying him for third-highest on the game. A rating and ranking that makes sense for the two-time All-Pro safety. This is a big change from the ESPN rankings we saw earlier this offseason that had Byard as the seventh-best safety in the NFL.

Byard continues to be a driving force for the Titans' defense and gives them the most valuable thing you can get from a defensive player; turnovers. Byard has had four interceptions or more in six of his seven seasons.

Not only that, but Byard also has been a tackling machine over the last few years of his career, making 100 tackles or more in two of the last three seasons. He provides a physical presence while also giving the ball back to his offense consistently.

Byard is the prototypical safety for the modern NFL. He is ideally suited to play against the modern offense with his versatile skillset. It isn't just the play from Byard, it's his leadership in the locker room as well. Byard sets the standard for the Titans. He is the consummate professional.

When the Titans need to deliver a message as a team, Byard is front and center. He is a fan favorite and, at this point, one of the best player's in franchise history. When playing in Tennessee, it is easy to be overlooked, but Byard is so special that clearly that doesn't happen.

While some may not fully appreciate what Byard brings, it is nice to see him get the respect and rating he deserves. Even if it comes from an unlikely place like a video game.
