Peyton Manning Says Tennessee Titans Made 'Great Hire' With Brian Callahan

Hall of Fame quarterback and NFL legend Peyton Manning worked with new Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan for four seasons while with the Denver Broncos. Manning had nothing but high praise for Callahan.

When Peyton Manning talks, people listen. So Tennessee Titans fans should give the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback their full attention, because he's raving about the Brian Callahan hire.

Callahan began his coaching career with the Denver Broncos in 2010, working as an assistant before moving to an offensive quality control position in 2011-12. From 2013-15, Callahan was an offensive assistant for the team.

It was in that 2012 to 2015 that Callahan had the opportunity to work with Manning — one of the best quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL. The legendary Broncos and Indianapolis Colts gunslinger had nothing but positive things to say about Tennessee's decision to hire Callahan.

"I'm very happy for Brian," Manning said, per TennesseeTitans.com. "Brian was extremely helpful to me during my four years playing for the Broncos, when he and I were together. Extremely hard working, extremely intelligent and just overall a great person. Not only did I benefit from his coaching and all the help that he gave me as a quarterback for the Broncos, but also just thoroughly enjoyed being around him and coming to work every day.

"The quarterback room is a small room, and you've got three quarterbacks and usually two coaches in there. So, Brian and I spent a lot of time in those quarterback meetings. So just enjoyed being around him. So very happy for him getting this opportunity. I think it's a great hire for the Tennessee Titans. I know he'll give the Titans everything he has."

Since leaving Denver, Callahan has been the quarterbacks coach with the Detroit Lions (2016-17) and Oakland Raiders (2018). He joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 2019, where he was the offensive coordinator through the 2023 season.

In addition to working with Manning, Callahan has also coached Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr and Joe Burrow. Now, he's tasked with helping build Tennessee's offense from scratch and developing Will Levis into a prominent NFL quarterback.

Manning has no doubt that Callahan is up for the challenge.

"Brian and I have stayed in touch since I stopped playing for the Broncos and all the places he's been, Detroit, Oakland and Cincinnati," said Manning. "I've talked to Joe Burrow about him a number of times. I know Joe's a big fan of Brian and Brian's helped Joe out a lot as well. I know he's going to do great things for Will Levis. But really obviously he's the head coach of the team and will do great things for the team as well."
