NASHVILLE — Ja'Marr Chase, a Pro Bowler in each of his first three seasons, joined an unofficial admiration society of all-star NFL players who are praising new Tennessee Titans coach Brian Callahan.

With Callahan as his offensive coordinator with the Cincinnati Bengals, Chase set a career high in 2023 with 100 catches and became the eighth player in NFL history to total 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. Chase is on a growing list, that includes Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and current quarterback Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford, to hail the Titans' hiring of Callahan.

Chase told tennesseetitans.com reporter Jim Wyatt that he'll miss Callahan but is excited to see how his career develops as a first-time head coach.

"I hate to see him leave, but it's nice to see him get a head job," Chase said. "He's a good coach; he loves his players. We always had good conversations. I think he's a great guy. The Titans are fortunate to get him.

"I think it will be fun, seeing him do what he does," Chase said. "It's a new opportunity, and we'll see what kind of playmakers he can (develop) and get the most out of them."

Through consecutive losing seasons, the Titans have ranked in the bottom third of the NFL in offense and defense; they have 24 free agents, including star running back Derrick Henry; and it'll be Callahan's first time calling offensive plays.

Chase believes Callahan is ready for the next level of responsibility.

"I think he'll do great," Chase said. "He has a great mastermind in setting up his players, the way he wants to set them up to get them the ball."
