NASHVILLE - Take this for what it’s worth, but reports out of New England, first reported by Jeff Howe of The Athletic, that there is “optimism” around the Patriots camp that DeAndre Hopkins will sign with the six-time Super Bowl champions.

Hopkins visited the Patriots on Thursday, following his weekend visit with the Tennessee Titans.

Multiple reports indicated that the Nashville visit went well, and according to sources who spoke with AllTitans.com on Sunday, the Titans did, in fact, make an offer to the veteran receiver. 104.5 The Zone’s Buck Reising Show also reported this information on Thursday.

As for New England, like myself, in Nashville, Howe, who covers the Patriots, first reported that “optimism" exists on both sides that a deal could be reached between the two sides.

Over the weekend, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com suggested that Hopkins was looking for a deal in the $10 million ballpark, with an incentive package from $2 million to $3 million.

While no details of the alleged Titans offer have surfaced, the report of “optimism” in New England could mean that a deal is imminent or that Hopkins camp is looking to improve their financial situation in an offer from another team or teams.

There have been no reports of other visits scheduled by Hopkins, despite his earlier comments that he was interested in potentially joining Kansas City or Buffalo. There has been no public comment from those organizations about mutual interest or an impending visit, though the latter could still be possible.

It’s thought that Hopkins intends to wait until closer to the beginning of training camps to reach his agreement, though that could be incorrect or change at any point.

AllTitans.com will continue to follow this for further developments and will report as information becomes available.
