Rookie QB Will Levis in a "Good Spot" with Titans according to ESPN's Jordan Reid

The Tennessee Titans' biggest move of the offseason so far was the trade up to select Will Levis early in the second round of the 2023 NFL draft. ESPN's draft analyst Jordan Reid thinks Levis is in a "good spot" with the Titans.

NASHVILLE — Since the Tennessee Titans made a trade up to select quarterback Will Levis, all the attention has been on the young quarterback. Even with the knowledge that current starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill is still on the roster, folks can't help but wonder what Levis can do for the Titans. According to ESPN's draft analyst Jordan Reid, Levis has landed in a "good spot" in Nashville.

ESPN did a recent article examining all of the rookie quarterbacks drafted in April and where they ended up. Here is what Reid had to say about Levis going to the Titans.

"Despite the slide to the top of the second round, Levis landed in a good spot. Ryan Tannehill is turning 35 and entering the final year of his contract, and Malik Willis hasn't met early expectations after being drafted in Round 3 last year. So Levis could see playing time early in his career. Tennessee believes in a traditional offense, including a downhill power run game and play-action passing, and that's the exact type of offense that Levis flourished in during his breakout 2021 season. And his powerful arm and ability as a runner give Titans coordinator Tim Kelly a different kind of skill set under center."

Levis did put his best football on tape in 2021 when he ran a very similar offense to what the Titans do now. Kentucky's offense was led by Liam Coen that season who is a part of the Sean McVay coaching tree. Levis does seem to fit into the play-action heavy scheme.

Levis has a lot of the qualities the Titans liked about Tannehill, but is a younger, more explosive and bigger athlete. The Titans could take another step as a team with an advanced version of Tannehill. Even if Levis can be that, he will certainly need more help to accomplish it than what the Titans can give now. Maybe a year to sit as the Titans build their roster is what is in order.
