Titans Draft Worries: Free Agent Wide Receivers Titans Could Target
NASHVILLE — As the Tennessee Titans move on from the draft process, it is fair to worry about the state of the wide receiver position. With all due respect to seventh-round pick Colton Dowell, waiting until the last pick to address receiver is something not many would have foreseen prior to the draft.
Mike Vrabel mentioned in the post-draft press conference that the team can still add players and their ability to sign free agents hasn't vanished. While there could be an addition via trade or the Titans could sign a player who is released from another team in the near future, let's take a look at the options currently on the free agent market.
Kenny Golladay
Golladay signed a big contract(Four years, $72 million) with the New York Giants back in 2021 and after two seasons in the Big Apple, he was cut. Golladay's value has dropped off so much he is on this list as a free agent after the draft looking at a veteran minimum deal as his best outcome. Why? Well, let's just say he is a talented guy that doesn't always give his best effort.
Golladay does have talent though. It's a big ask, but if Golladay's situation flips a switch for him, the Titans could get a potential steal. Golladay did have 183 catches, 3068 yards and 21 touchdowns during his four years in Detroit to start his career. Odds are low the move would work, but considering the Titans' receiver room, it may be worth a shot.
Rashard Higgins
Higgins had some impressive seasons when he saw targets during his time in Cleveland. Higgins put up seasons of over 570 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns in both years he got 52 targets or more. He is 28 years old and still has some juice that could help the Titans for 2023. He could also come in and get the d
Demarcus Robinson
Robinson would be similar to the Chris Moore move. Robinson is solid depth, but not a difference maker. Regardless, the Titans need depth and talent at receiver and only one of those will be available to them at this point. Robinson has been productive though, which is key. Robinson has gone over 400 yards receiving three times in the last six seasons. He has played over 600 snaps four seasons in a row as well, so the durability factor goes in his favor.
