NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have released offensive tackle Jamarco Jones after a week of practice incidents that saw him get ejected in two separate sessions. Jones was slated to start at right tackle after the suspension of Nicholas Petit-Frere.

Jones was given first dibs on the starting right tackle position, but squandered it almost immediately. Earlier this week, Jones got in a dust-up with defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons that saw both players sent off the field. Jones nor Simmons was allowed back to practice.

Then we had the incident from Thursday's session where Jones made an illegal, and what most have reported, a dirty hit on linebacker Chance Campbell. This caused linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair to get upset with Jones, but Al-Shaair wasn't alone.

Because of the illegal hit, Vrabel sent Jones off again and he did not return to practice. Here is what Vrabel had to say about the incident after practice.

"I think you have to know how to practice. We talk all the time about being competitive and going to that line,' Vrabel said. "Certainly not going to do anything that hurts the team, you don't want to see that."

Jones joined the Titans last offseason, but never saw the field in a game due to injury. The only news Jones made last season was a training camp dust-up with Taylor Lewan, which was obvious foreshadowing knowing what we know now.

Jones will now be a free agent and the Titans will try to put in a new player at right tackle. The likely options are newly-signed free agent Chris Hubbard, undrafted rookie John Ojukwu and sixth-round pick Jaelyn Duncan.

The Titans may be switching up the intended offensive line now, but at least whoever plays right tackle next will be able to make it through practice and let the group gain some cohesion. The Titans will save $926,000 with the release of Jones.
