Tennessee Titans’ “Dream Scenario” in 2023 NFL Draft According to Expert Daniel Jeremiah
NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans have to address the offensive line in a major way, not only in free agency, but in the NFL Draft as well. According to NFL Network star and draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah taking Peter Skoronski, the experienced offensive lineman out of Northwestern, would be a dream scenario.
Jeremiah spoke on a conference call with various NFL media and discussed the fit for Skoronski with the Titans. Jeremiah said, “"Obviously tackle is going to be a glaring need for them. If you ask me absolute best-case scenario, I'd say somehow Skoronski gets there from Northwestern. I think he can play tackle. I think he could be an unbelievable guard as well. But Skoronski would be my dream scenario.”
Jeremiah points out the positional versatility. Skoronski played his career at left tackle for Northwestern, but there are some concerns about his size. Height and arm length have some teams considering Skoronski at guard. The good news(or bad news) for the Titans is they need a guard AND a tackle. So, regardless of where Skoronski ends up playing, he will be a welcome addition to the offensive line group.
Jeremiah expressed some doubt that Skoronski would make it the pick 11 and be available for the Titans to select him. There are teams ahead of the Titans like the Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons that could also be very interested in offensive line help.
"And while I don't think that's going to happen, you start getting all these quarterbacks coming off the board and we end up getting four go and you have those top defensive players, then maybe it's not the craziest thing in the world that he would somehow make it to them,” Jeremiah said.
Jeremiah is fair to be worried about Skoronski making it to the Titans, but as he pointed out, there could be four quarterbacks that go before the Titans pick and a good amount of the top defenders. It is possible the late-first round offensive line options and even the options on day two of the NFL Draft could cause teams to go defense early and come back for offensive line later. That would help the Titans out tremendously.
Most folks have seen Paris Johnson Jr., the offensive tackle out of Ohio State, linked to the Titans, but having the choice between Skoronski and Johnson would be the true dream scenario for the Titans. What the Titans do in free agency will have a major impact on the decision, but having either of the top two offensive linemen to choose from at pick 11 is all the Titans could hope for.
