Tennessee Titans Franchise Shows Tremendous Growth Over Past Year, Value Up 26%
The Tennessee Titans' regular season begins on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints and with that the entire organization will be focused on making it a success. However, there is a business aspect of the NFL that transcends wins and losses, in that department, the Titans are improving rapidly.
According to a report from Mike Ozanian from Forbes, the Tennessee Titans are ranked 21st in value among the 32 NFL franchises. The Titans organization is worth $4.4 billion. While the Titans may not be very high on the list, they have been climbing.
According to the same report, the Titans led the NFL in year-over-year growth with a 26% increase in value. That was the highest increase in the NFL from last year, edging out the Miami Dolphins with a 24% increase.
This is a great sign for the Titans and their fans. The Titans continuing to grow from a business standpoint only gives the team more money to improve the roster and facilities. Improving facilities and equipment can make the Titans more desirable to potential players.
Of course, there is a salary cap in the NFL, so it isn't like additional revenue gives the Titans more cap room, but consider the guaranteed money owners give out to players. There is no cap on that, per se. With additional revenue that titans can afford to pay those big time signing bonuses and hopefully keep their best players while being able to bring in others.
The Titans are set to have anywhere from $50-100 million in cap space next offseason, so that guaranteed money and the ability to pony up for free agents could matter very soon.
Why the increase though? Seems safe to attribute it to two things. First, the Titans consistent on-field success since 2016 where they have been one of the winningest teams in the NFL and the deal the Titans recently reached for a new stadium.
The stadium may be the biggest factor here, but with all of the reasoning rolled into one pot it is hard to assign how much responsibility each aspect played.
Either way, this is good news for the Titans and something they hope continues to climb.
