Titans Mike Vrabel Inducted Into Patriots Hall Of Fame
NASHVILLE - The New England Patriots announced on Wednesday that former Patriots linebacker and current Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is the newest member to be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame.
The announcement came in a statement from Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
“Mike’s leadership and versatility were principal to one of the most successful eras in franchise history, propelling the Patriots to three Super Bowl titles in four years and establishing multiple NFL records for consecutive-game win streaks. Many Patriots players have made contributions in all three phases of the game, but none more significantly than Mike.
He was an eight-year starter on defense who also regularly contributed on special teams and is the only player in NFL history to score touchdowns on his first 10 career receptions, including touchdowns in back-to-back Super Bowl victories.
He was respected for his football intellect and was destined to become a head coach in this league. I look forward to welcoming him back to New England, where his induction will preserve his legacy as one of the greatest players in franchise history.”
Vrabel entered the NFL as a third-round pick, No. 91 overall, to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he spent four seasons, but it wasn't until he arrived in New England that his career took off.
As a member of the Patriots (2001-2008), Vrabel started 110 games, where he was part of three Super Bowl-winning teams, and was named to one All-Pro team and one Pro Bowl.
Besides being a star linebacker, Vrabel was also a touchdown-scoring machine for the Patriots as a tight end. He collected ten career touchdown receptions on just 14 targets, with all ten going for touchdowns, including two in Super Bowls, with one each in XXXVIII and XXXIX.
As a head coach of the Titans, Vrabel currently owns a 48034 career mark, with two AFC South titles in five seasons at the helm.
The selection process for the Patriots is from fan votes, and the date and time for the Patriots Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be announced at a later date.
