NASHVILLE - The Nationa Football League announced on Tuesday that they have entered into an agreement with NBCUniversal to carry the upcoming NFL wild card playoff game this season. This game is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024.

While the NFL has had some games covered via streaming before, this will be the first time a playoff game has been one of them.

"We are thrilled to partner with the NFL on this industry milestone, bringing to Peacock the first ever exclusively live-streamed NFL Playoff game," Pete Bevacqua, chairman of NBC Sports, said, according to a report by CBS Sports

As for the NFL, Hans Schroder, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, had this to say.

"We are excited to work with a great partner in Peacock to present the first-ever exclusively live-streamed NFL playoff game this upcoming season."

Already there has been some negative reaction on social media to this plan, as some homes do not use streaming services and could be shut out of future games over this platform.

However, as for the coming playoff game, the cities of the two teams that will play in this matchup will be able to watch the game on their local NBC affiliate station.
