Report: Tennessee Titans to Start Will Levis at Quarterback Against Atlanta Falcons

The Tennessee Titans will be starting rookie Will Levis against the Atlanta Falcons according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The Tennessee Titans will finally get a look at the future against the Atlanta Falcons in rookie quarterback Will Levis according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Per the report, Levis will be the Titans' starting quarterback for the first time on Sunday.

The Titans traded up in this year's draft to select the former Kentucky passer, so it was always likely Levis got to see the field if starter Ryan Tannehill got hurt, but second-year quarterback Malik Willis won the backup job over Levis. That created some mystery as to whether it would be Levis or Willis up next.

If Rapoport is correct, looks like Levis has finally leapt over Willis. Hilariously, head coach Mike Vrabel tried to play coy on Monday as to who would be getting the start, saying both quarterbacks would play to avoid answering.

Some claim this is for competitive reasons, forcing the other team to plan for two quarterbacks. The seriousness of that sort of idea and the effectiveness can be debated, but regardless the rouse didn't last long as the Falcons certainly have better intel than the regular public gets.

The Titans may sit at 2-4, but this has just become a very exciting week. Getting a look at Levis represents more than just a rookie getting a shot, but again, the future of the team. Whether Levis is good or not, getting the answer is as important as how well Levis plays.

The Titans are likely heading into the 2024 NFL draft with a high pick and will see a draft class with some excellent quarterback prospects at the top. Finding the quarterback of the future should be the top priority and they'll need to know if they need to take a shot on another passer after the season.

That is the downside of the experiment, but there is also a chance this is a historic moment for the franchise. In theory, Levis could turn into an elite quarterback and propel the Titans to their first Super Bowl victory.

While that is not likely, it is also still a possibility. It has happened for other teams recently, so why not the Titans? Wearing the Houston Oilers throwbacks and winning a home game in your first start is a great way to kickoff a career.

The potential for this to be a meaningful moment makes it one of the most exciting things that has happened for the Titans in quite some time. Let's all get ready to watch it unfold.
