Three Players To Watch (Besides QBs) During Titans OTAs

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Titans begin their OTA's (organized team activities) this week, and most of the interest will be focused on the quarterback competition that is expected to take place.

However, despite the warranted attention to this position, some other players could play critical roles this season that is worthy of mention as we prepare for Tuesday's media availability at St. Thomas Sports Park.

Three players will draw their fair share of attention outside the quarterbacks during Tuesday's practice and into training camp.

Left Tackle Andre Dillard

A former first-round draft pick, Dillard spent his first four seasons in the NFL as a primary backup but will now have an opportunity to win the left tackle position for the Titans. While the Titans selected Peter Skoronski in round one back in April, having watched him work primarily at guard during the rookie minicamp, it seems that Dillard has been penciled into the starter roll.

Can Dillard become the player he was predicted to be when Philadelphia took him in the 2019 draft? If he can, that bodes well for the Titans, at least on paper.

Rookie Tight End Josh Whyle

Considering the current situation among the wide receivers, Whyle should be watched as his skill set could add another weapon in the passing game for the Titans this season.

At 6-foot-6 and having shown his athletic skills and the ability to provide spectacular catches, Whyle can provide a schematic advantage against shorter defenders. Though he shouldn't face a lot of competition, as a rookie, how well he has grasped the playbook and knows his assignments will be of particular concern.

Center Aaron Brewer

While not unaccustomed to the role of a starter, having 23 to his credit, Brewer steps into the spot held by 2022 Pro Bowler Ben Jones for the last seven seasons; this will be the first time it has been on Brewer to lead this offensive line for the entire season.

Considered undersized, at 6-foot-1 and 275 pounds, the undrafted free agent, Brewer looked to have added some much-needed muscle to his frame during his recent media appearance; those concerns will remain until Brewer can prove himself capable of filling this role, consistently during minicamp, training camp, and the preseason.

One Extra For Good Measure

Treylon Burks

The former first-rounder said all the right things during his first media appearance of the season, but until he shows he has taken last season's lessons to heart and can apply them to the field, he will also be one to watch.

The Titans take the field, with media in attendance, on Tuesday at noon.
