The Tennessee Titans Have Decided Who Will Start at QB in Chicago, but They Won't Tell Who
NASHVILLE — The most interesting story heading into the Tennessee Titans' first preseason game against the Chicago Bears is the backup quarterback battle between the Titans' two young passers. Many are waiting to see who of the two, Malik Willis or Will Levis, will get the start.
Well, according to Titans head coach Mike Vrabel via A to Z Sports, the Titans have picked who will get the start, but Vrabel wasn't willing to reveal the choice. When asked if a decision had been made and whether it would be Willis, Vrabel said this.
"It's been made, yeah. That's not a decision that we are going to share right now, but we've made the decision."
The question most of us have right now is a simple, why? Why would the Titans hide this decision? This is an exhibition game where the outcome doesn't matter. Teams do not create specific game plans in the preseason. There is no competitive advantage to gain.
There are only three logical explanations here. Either Vrabel wants acting head coach Terrell Williams to announce it tomorrow which will give Williams exposure to announcing a big lineup decision to the media, Vrabel thinks he is protecting his young quarterbacks from media questions or Vrabel simply likes the idea that he can withhold information that people want to know.
It would not be a shocker for Vrabel to enjoy the simple pleasure of trolling his fan base.
Vrabel didn't just talk about the quarterbacks though. He also gave some insight on whether or not starters will play in this game. Vrabel confirmed, but was vague as possible about what the plan would be.
"Yeah. there will be some that play, some that won't," Vrabel declared. "It's just like practice, everybody has a plan. Everybody will have a plan for Saturday."
