NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans dropped a bomb on the NFL news cycle on Sunday with their signing of free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. One man who wasn't shocked, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. He is the head coach after all.

Vrabel is participating in a celebrity golf event this weekend called the American Century Championship in Stateline, Nevada. An event that sees numerous celebrities participate in a competitive event. Vrabel happen to be playing with ESPN personality Pat McAfee.

McAfee, being the media maven he is, of course went to Vrabel for his take after the Hopkins news broke. Vrabel jokingly admitted he knew about the move the day before and just hadn't revealed the information to anyone around him, including McAfee.

Vrabel may have been "sandbagging," but he certainly has to be excited about the news. Despite publicly expressing confidence in his receiver room, Vrabel had to know the talent level wasn't high enough to win at the level Vrabel expects to each year.

The Hopkins move changes all of that. The Titans have now added one of the top talents in the league at their biggest position of need. Adding Hopkins to a run game led by Derrick Henry and a defense that is loaded with talent have Vrabel more optimistic than before.

Vrabel may not be too happy with some of his shots at on the course, but he can smile regardless knowing how much his football team improved on Sunday. While Vrabel is a competitor, the Hopkins reports have to get Vrabel more hype than any birdies or pars he may hit on the course.

Vrabel should enjoy his time now though because the hard work is just days away as the Titans will report for training camp soon. Rookies are set to arrive on July 22 and veterans, including Hopkins, will arrive on July 25.
