Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson (knee) out up to eight weeks
Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson will be out for three to eight weeks after having arthroscopic surgery on his knee, the team announced Monday.
Johnson's injury caused him to miss last weekend's All-Star festivities. He has been placed on injured reserve.

"He is, first of all, very disappointed by the situation, but it’s out of our control," Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy said, according to the team's website. "We have a lot of confidence in our group, and it will be a different responsibility for some of our defensemen."
The injury leaves Colorado with six healthy defenseman. The team did not announce a call-up from its AHL affiliate to take Johnson's spot on the roster.
