Transfer Roundup: USMNT Stars Adams, Dest Seal Moves As Balogun Weighs Options
As most of the big names in the transfer market like Kylian Mbappé and Harry Kane have seen their futures decided, the U.S. men’s national team appears to be at the center of the transfer rumor mill.
Christian Pulisic, Tim Weah and Matt Turner are just a few of the USMNT stars that are settling in with their new teams, but a few other U.S. starters have followed with moves of their own this week.

Transfer Rumors and Done Deals
USMNT captain Tyler Adams is back in the Premier League after completing a move to Bournemouth on Sunday. The 24-year-old midfielder heads to the south coast of England on a five-year deal in a move worth more than £20 million ($25.5 million). The transfer comes after Adams conducted a medical to join Chelsea two weeks ago when the club agreed to activate his release clause before later pulling out of the deal.
Sergiño Dest is the latest USMNT star to make a summer move with Barcelona loaning the 22-year-old to PSV Eindhoven on Monday. The Dutch side, which finished second in the Eredivisie last season, has an option to make the move permanent for €11 million. The fullback made only eight league appearances while on loan at AC Milan last season.
USMNT striker Folarin Balogun is continuing to field interest from Chelsea, but Monaco appears to be in talks with Arsenal over a move. The Ligue 1 side had one bid for the 22-year-old rejected but is expected to make another offer soon. Balogun scored 21 Ligue 1 goals while on loan with Reims last season. (Sky Sports)
Neymar was officially announced as the latest star to head to Saudi Arabia with a rousing introduction at Al Hilal over the weekend. The 31-year-old Brazilian joins on a two-year contract reportedly worth more than $150 million a year, while PSG will receive a €90 million transfer fee. (ESPN)
Manchester City is in talks with Rennes over a move for forward Jérémy Doku. The Belgian phenom jumped onto the scene at the 2022 World Cup and, at 21 years old, is considered one of the world’s up-and-coming stars. After beating Liverpool to Moisés Caicedo in a £100 million deal, Chelsea also beat the Reds to the signature of Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia. The 19-year-old heads to Stamford Bridge on a seven-year contract in a £58 million move. In his debut Premier League season, Lavia made 29 league appearances last year.
Manchester United announced that forward Mason Greenwood will leave the team. After charges of attempted rape and engaging in controlling and coercive behavior against the 21-year-old were dropped, the club conducted an internal investigation and has decided to move forward without Greenwood.
Manchester City’s £80 million bid for West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá is on hold due to a FIFA investigation into betting. The investigation reportedly revolves around bets placed in Brazil over the Brazilian international getting booked in games. Fulham has sold forward Aleksandar Mitrović for a club-record fee to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal in a £50 million move. The 28-year-old Serbian international was Fulham’s top scorer last season with 14 Premier League goals.
Galatasaray has signed Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech on a season-long loan. The Turkish giants will shell out €3.6 million for the loan and will have a €2.9 million option to make the move permanent. The Moroccan international has made 107 appearances for Chelsea since 2020.
Progress has slowed on Manchester United’s attempted move for Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard. The club was interested in the French international but Harry Maguire’s failed move to West Ham over salary concerns has hampered the deal. Inter Milan has been linked to Pavard in recent days.
