Sunderland picked up their first win of the season last weekend, courtesy of two goals from Jobe Bellingham.

The summer signing from Birmingham City got off the mark for his new club last time out, bagging a brace to hand Sunderland their first win of the season.

He's quickly becoming a fan favourite at the club, Tony Mowbray is giving him much more first-team exposure than he was getting at Birmingham City, and it's so far paying off for all involved.

And despite being just 17 years old, Bellingham is showing greta maturity and quality.

And playing in front of a packed out Stadium of Light hasn't distracted the youngster either - speaking to Sunderland Echo, Bellingham had this to say on the atmosphere against Rotherham:

“Because I’ve only played here once I knew it was good. But when you are not here for a while time kind of fades the memory.

“It was still really surprising on the first game of the season and the roar at the start is unbelievable. I love it so much.

“You can see at the start of the game, I can’t help but smile at the start when they are singing my favourite song. It’s something so spectacular.

“You just want to make it so that becomes a habit for fans chanting your name. It’s something you want to hear all the time but it’s my responsibility to make sure that happens.”

Bellingham already looks like an important player for the Black Cats.

He brings a good degree of physicality to the side and he showed last weekend that, given the opportunity, he can put the ball in the back of the net.

That's obviously crucial, but even more so when your team is lacking in strikers.

Sunderland return to action away at Coventry City this weekend.
