Manchester United's Amad Diallo plan revealed as Sunderland loan nears an end
Manchester United's Amad Diallo has been a hit with Sunderland this season.
The 20-year-old was sent on a season-long loan to Sunderland last summer after the Black Cats had earned promotion from League One, and after Diallo had just completed his first full season in England.
United paid up to £37million for the Ivorian who made three Premier League appearances in the 2020/21 season, before spending time out on loan at Rangers last time round.
But with Sunderland, Diallo has really flourished. He's played 37 times in the Championship this season, scoring 13 and assisting three, having played a key role for Sunderland who claimed a play-off spot with their 3-0 win at Preston today.
There's been a lot of discussion about Diallo's future beyond this season, and an emerging report from The Sun has revealed that Manchester United are ready to send him out on loan again, but the chances of him returning to Sunderland seem slim.
The Sun's report says that United have long-term plans for Diallo and so they'd only consider a loan deal for Diallo next season, with a move abroad more favourable.
So a return to the Stadium of Light seems like an unlikely outcome. Sunderland's chances of bringing Diallo back for next season though could increase massively if they earn promotion from the Championship.
They face Luton Town in the play-off semi-finals this month, with the first game taking place on Saturday.
Diallo will of course be playing a huge part for Sunderland in their quest for an unexpected return to the Premier League, given that he's one of the few players to have stayed injury-free over the past few weeks.
Sunderland v Luton Town kicks off at 5:30pm next Saturday at the Stadium of Light.
