'We have to do so much more' - Sunderland director makes vow to 'vital' supporters
Sunderland director Dave Jones has admitted that the club ‘needs to do so much more’ to reward fans as he admitted there has been mistakes.
The Sky Sports presenter is a lifelong Sunderland fan and a non-executive board director, and he was feeling in reflective mood after watching the third and final season of Sunderland Til I Die.
Using his Instagram account, Jones said it was unacceptable what Sunderland fans have ‘been put through’ and vowed to help the club up its game.

"Watching the show I was reminded of: what a brilliant job Alex Neil did for us, what a giant role model and servant Luke O'Nien is and Lynden Gooch was for us, how much I loved watching Ross Stewart play for us (I hope he can find his way back to fitness) and how we miss Louise Wanless terribly," Jones wrote.
"But also how vital our fans are, the soul and the heartbeat, how much they have been put through (sometimes because of our mistakes) and how all of us serving the club have to do more, so much more, to get this club back to where it belongs, because we are not there yet.
“And we need to take our fans on the journey. There has to be another chapter."
It has certainly been a tumultuous few weeks for Sunderland. The feel-good from the play-off final win has faded into history, as has the exhilaration of last season.
In its stead has been frustration at failure to land a striker, a feeling of betrayal over the derby debacle, anger at Michael Beale’s appointment and disillusionment at the football being produced under the former Rangers boss.
