Sunderland have had their fair share of managers over the year - some enjoying success and others not really.

But what are the club's last 10 permanent bosses up to these days? Here we find out...

Gus Poyet

Poyet has enjoyed an interesting managerial career. He was with Sunderland between 2013 and 2015 and he's since had spells with AEK Athens, Real Betis, Shanghai Shenhua, Bordeaux, and even a spell in Chile, before taking over the Greek national team in 2022.

Dick Advocaat

Advocaat spent time in charge of Sunderland in 2015. It was a short-lived spell but he's since gone on to manage the likes of Feyenoord and Fenerbahce and the Dutch and Iraqi national teams, and he's currently in charge of ADO Den Haag.

Sam Allardyce

'Big Sam' steered Sunderland to Premier League safety in the 2015/16 season before going on to have various spells in England, as well as a short stint in charge of the naitonal side. He's this week been named as Leeds United boss until the end of the season.

David Moyes

Moyes is another name managing in the Premier League. He's now in his second stint in charge of West Ham.

Simon Grayson

After leaving a brief spell as Sunderland boss in 2017, Grayson then managed Bradford City, Blackpool, and Fleetwood Town, before taking charge of Indian Super League side Bengaluru in 2022.

Chris Coleman

Coleman had a torrid time with Sunderland during the 2017/18 season which saw the Black Cats finish bottom of the Championship table. Then after a brief spell in China, Coleman took charge of Greek Superl League side Atromitos in January 2022.

Jack Ross

Ross won over 50% of his 75 games in charge of Sunderland. Under his watch, the Black Cats lost the 2017/18 League One play-off final to Charlton Athletic and Ross was let go early into the next campaign. He's since managed Hibernian where he had another good spell, before a brief spell with Dundee United in 2022.

Phil Parkinson

Parkinson was a divisive figure during his time at Sunderland. But he took the Wrexham job in 2021 and he's now steered the infamous Welsh club to promotion from the National League.

Lee Johnson

Johnson was another divisive Sunderland boss. After a 6-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers at the start of last year, Johnson was sacked. He's now manager of Hibernian.

Alex Neil

Left for Stoke City earlier this season, after guiding the Black Cats to promotion from League One last time round.
