41-year-old Federer, the winner of 20 Grand Slam titles, announced just last week that he is retiring due to ongoing knee trouble. The Swiss legend went up against Nadal 40 times in his storied career, winning 14 of those matchups including their most recent showdown at the 2019 Wimbledon semifinals.
"It's super special playing with Rafa, to be able to do that one more time, it's going to be wonderful," Federer said in a presser leading up to the final professional match of his fabled career. Federer and Nadal also teamed up for a doubles match just once before, winning against Sock and Sam Querrey at the inaugural Laver Cup back in 2017.
