Countdown to Crimson Tide's 2023 Season Opener:

54 days.

Did you Notice?

  •  Alabama women's golfer Benedetta Moresco secured low-amateur honors at the U.S. Women's Open Championship this weekend at Pebble Beach.
  • Former Alabama basketball forward Noah Clowney runs the length of the floor and throws down the alley-oop for his new team, the Brooklyn Nets.
  • Look out! Former Alabama basketball guard JD Davison throws down the poster for the Boston Celtics in a Summer League game on Sunday night. Davison signed a new two-way contract with the organization on Sunday as well.
  • Quanesha Burks (women’s long jump), Daniel Haugh (men’s hammer throw) and Shelby McEwen (men’s high jump) all earned second-place finishes at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships. With their top-two finishes, the three 2020 Olympians have all but solidified themselves a spot on the U.S. World Team for the 2023 World Athletics Championships (Aug. 19-27) in Budapest, as well as the 2023 Pan American Games (Oct. 20-Nov. 5) in Santiago, Chile.

On This Day in Crimson Tide History:

July 10, 1960: American Broadcasting was set to televise college football for the first time. For its kickoff game, ABC selected the Sept. 17 matchup between Alabama and Georgia at Legion Field. Sports information director Finus Gaston met with ABC officials in Birmingham for a sight inspection and the network folks seemed especially happy when told it wouldn’t be a problem for the university to provide a Jeep for one of the mobile cameras. ABC would use six cameras to field the game, including the one on the Jeep.

July 10, 1989: Chavis Williams was born in Dora, Ala.

July 10, 1990: Running back Trent Richardson was born in Pensacola, Fla.

Crimson Tide Quote of the Day:

"I'm known as a recruiter. Well, you've got to have chicken to make chicken salad." — Paul W. “Bear” Bryant

We'll Leave You With This:

  • Alabama baseball commit and two-way star Bryce Eldridge was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 16th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft on Sunday night — all but eliminating the hopes of him playing for the Crimson Tide the next three years.
