In this story:

Excitement is in the air as the Southeastern Conference kicks off its annual media days ahead of the new season. Per tradition, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey opened the event with his state of the conference address. What did the most powerful man in college football say in Nashville?

"The Joe Gaither Show on BamaCentral" is excstatic for SEC Media Days so staring with Sankey makes perfect sense. The commissioner spoke about how successful the conference has been and where the conference is going in the future but highlighted two issues that present problems in the future.

Name, image and likeness is still a major issue in college football as state laws supersede NCAA rules and SEC bylaws. Can Sankey get all 16 members to agree on rules and regulations going forward? Is Congress really the only viable option to create uniformity?

The second issue facing college athletics and the SEC pertains to gambling. Sankey practically called the University of Alabama by name in his speech when referring to a gambling incident this spring, how does the conference mitigate future problems where the integrity of competition is not called into question?

Our program transitioned back to Friday's main topic with the University of Tennessee and Jeremy Pruitt recruiting scandal. How did the Tennessee coaches come up with such lame excuses for the NCAA investigation?

Finally the Crimson Tide took a huge jump in the recruiting rankings over the past week, putting the Alabama detractors to bed as the Tide keeps rolling.
