It's official.

After a long, difficult decision — not actually — former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young has picked a jersey number that he will don in the NFL.

Young will wear his college number, No. 9, with the Carolina Panthers. The number was originally Matt Corral's — the former Ole Miss quarterback. He is switching back to his college number, No. 2, allowing Young the honor.

He also wore No. 9 at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif. prior to arriving in Tuscaloosa.

"I would love to keep my number," Young said at Alabama's Pro Day on March 23. "I would love to be [No.] 9. That's my dad's number — that's why I wear it. He's been an integral part of my life — the reason I am the man I am today."

Young was selected by Carolina with the top overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night — the first Crimson Tide player since 1948.

"This is surreal for me," Young said at his introductory press conference on Friday in Charlotte. "I just want to say thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Tepper, Scott Fitterer, [Frank] Reich and everyone who believed in me. This is an opportunity that I don't take lightly, I don't take for granted. This is a huge blessing. I'm super excited to get to work, I'm super grateful. […] I couldn't be more ecstatic to be a Carolina Panther."
