The Alabama basketball program suddenly found itself with an extra open roster spot when veteran guard Jahvon Quinerly opted to enter the transfer portal.

Consequently, head coach Nate Oats continued to work the transfer portal while  managing Alabama's numbers for the upcoming the 2023-24 season.

According to Joe Tipton of On3Sports,the Crimson Tide will be hosting West Virginia Center Mohamed Wague over the weekend.

Wague only recently entered the transfer portal days following resignation of  head coach Bob Huggins. He landed in West Virginia by way of Harcum College, and played in 28 games for the Mountaineers during his lone season in Morgantown but never cracked the starting lineup.

The 6-foot-10, 225 pound center averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds on 74 percent shooting from the floor.

At Harcum College he led the nation in offensive rebounds with 170 and total rebounds with 417 in 2021-22.

Shooting seems to be an area to improve as Wague shot 53% from the free-throw line and did not attempt a shot from the 3-point arc.

His biggest game last season came against rival Pittsburgh where Wague scored 11 points and pulled in 4 rebounds.

An experienced big-bodied athlete is hard to come by at this stage in the college basketball calendar, therefore securing Wague and filling out the front-court depth.

The New York-native is a junior and appears to have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
