Alabama Defensive Lineman Enters Transfer Portal After Incident
Alabama football will be one defensive lineman short when the Crimson Tide opens fall camp as redshirt junior Jamil Burroughs has entered the transfer portal.
Burroughs made headlines just two weeks ago after an incident involving water pistols, campus police and disrespect landed him in hot water with the football program.
It appears that ultimately the Powder Springs, Ga., native will use his last two seasons of eligibility elsewhere.
Burroughs appeared in 20 games over three seasons for Alabama without making a start. He tallied 15 total tackles with two sacks.
Experts expected the redshirt junior to see extensive playing time this season as a member of the second defensive line unit.
Alabama remains loaded along the defensive front with more than a dozen players on the roster. His departure opens the door for underclassmen James Smith, Tim Keenan and Damon Payne to earn more playing time.
Burroughs was considered a four-star prospect in the 2020 class and chose to come to The Capstone over Georgia, Arkansas, Clemson and Michigan.
There are 57 days until college football's Week 0 kickoff, leaving only a short time for Burroughs to choose his next destination.
On3sports was first to report Burroughs' name in the transfer portal.
