Recruiting Rundown: Rivalry Reels In a Number of Revered Recruits

The Third Saturday in October will be the backdrop of several big named recruits coming to Tuscaloosa in both football and basketball.

The Alabama Crimson Tide added a football commitment last week after disposing of the Arkansas Razorbacks on the field. Class of 2025 linebacker Myles Johnson took to social media to announce his decision to roll with the Tide shortly after the Alabama win. 

Can the Tide make it another successful weekend on the recruiting trail before the football team enjoys an off week? 

There are numerous high profile football targets and two very prominent basketball targets coming to Tuscaloosa this weekend to enjoy the festivities and find out if the University of Alabama is a good fit for their futures.

Tide-Bits 

  • Anthony Pesci is a 6-foot-4 right-handed pitcher and utility player in the class of 2024 out of Michigan. He took to social media to announce his commitment to the Alabama baseball program this week. 
  • Outfielder Richard Bonomolo Jr. from Wabash Valley College announced on Twitter his intention to join the Crimson Tide. Bonomolo has appeared in 65 games while batting .449 with 62 RBI and seven homeruns in junior college.
  • Tuscaloosa County High School softball player Holly Beth Brooks took to social media to announce her commitment to the Crimson Tide. Brooks is just a junior so she'll be joining the Alabama softball program in the class of 2025.
  • Kaitlyn Pallozzi is a class of 2025 pitcher out of Mercy High School in Farmington Hills, Mi. She took to social media to announce her intention to play for the Crimson Tide this week.

Checking out the Capstone

The Alabama basketball program is hosting a pair of visitors this weekend on official visits. 

  • 5-star class of 2024 forward Derrion Reid out of Prolific Prep in California is on his official visit. Reid is a teammate of Alabama's only '24 commit Aidan Sherrell. The 6-foot-7 prospect is considered the No. 17 overall player in the class by 247Sports and is down to Alabama, Georgia and Florida State for his services.
  • 4-star class of 2024 forward Billy Richmond out of Camden, New Jersey is on an official visit to The Capstone. Richmond is considered the No. 24 overall prospect in the class by 247Sports and appears to be heavily considering Kentucky, Memphis, LSU and Alabama.

Alabama Football Prospects

The Crimson Tide is hosting two official visitors in the 2024 class, one prospect who's already committed and one target.

  • Justin Okoronkwo is a 3-star linebacker out of Germany who committed to the Crimson Tide in the summer. 
  • Zay Mincey is a 4-star safety out of Daytona Beach, Fla. He is considered the No. 6 safety in the class by the 247Sports. Mincey will be on his official visit this week and appears to be considering the three major Florida schools, Florida, Florida State and Miami the most, but told On3 Sports that the Crimson Tide still has a good chance at landing his services.

The class of 2024 is drying up a bit as far as uncommitted prospects but the Crimson Tide is bringing in a number of prospects that they'd like to add to the class.

  • Steve Mboumoua is a 4-star defensive lineman out of Canada. The youth soccer player is now 6-foot-4, 260 pounds and considered one of the better players north of the boarder. 
  • Daniel Hill is a 4-star running back out of Meridian, Miss. Hill has been flirting with the Crimson Tide for a long time and recently adjusted his top-three choices to reflect Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee. 
  • William Echoles is a 4-star offensive lineman out of Houston, Miss. The 6-foot-2, 295-pound guard committed to Ole Miss in July but is coming to Tuscaloosa to visit after receiving a scholarship offer this week. 
  • Tristan Jernigan is a 3-star linebacker out of Tupelo, Miss. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker committed to Texas A&M in May. According to Andrew Bone of On3 it will be Jernigan's second visit to Tuscaloosa this fall. 
  • Kamore Harris is a 3-star athlete out of BB Comer Memorial School in Sylacauga, Ala. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound athlete committed to Memphis in July. The 2A back of the year plays both running back and linebacker.
  • PJ Woodland is a 3-star cornerback out of Hattiesburg, Miss. Woodland committed to Mississippi State in June, but decommitted this past weekend. 

2025 Recruits

  • Zion Grady is a 5-star Edge rusher out of Troy, Ala. Director of recruiting for 247Sports Steve Wiltfong recently Crystal Ball predicted him to choose the Crimson Tide.
  • Bryce Davis is a 4-star edge rusher out of Greensboro, N.C. The 6-foot-3, 245 pound prospect is considered the No. 7 edge rusher in the class by the 247Sports composite.
  • Grayshaun Swain is a 3-star edge rusher out of Jemison High School in Anniston, Ala.

2026 Recruits

  • Lamar Brown is a 5-star offensive tackle out of University Lab High School in Baton Rouge, La., He's considered the No. 2 overall tackle in the class by the 247Sports Composite.
  • Jackson Cantwell is a 5-star tackle out of Nixa, Mo. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound tackle is considered the No. 1 tackle in the class by the 247Sports Composite.
  • Jared Curtis is a 5-star quarterback out of Nashville, Tenn. He's considered the No. 2 overall quarterback in the class by the 247Sports Composite. 
  • Jalan Chapman is an unranked offensive lineman out of New Orleans, La.
  • Hezekiah Harris is a 5-star edge rusher out of Jemison High School in Huntsville, Ala. He's considered the No. 1 edge rusher in the class according tot he 247Sports Composite.
  • Jamarrion Gordon is an unranked athlete out of Jackson High School in Jackson, Ala.
  • Landon Duckworth is a 4-star quarterback out of Jackson High School in Jackson, Ala. He committed to South Carolina in August and is considered the No. 4 quarterback in the class according to the 247Sports Composite.
  • Vodney  Cleveland is an unranked defensive lineman out of Prattville High School in Prattville, Ala.
  • Tyson Bacon is an unranked defensive lineman out of Warren, Mi. 

Class of 2027 Prospects

Trent Seaborn is an unranked quarterback out of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Ala.
