Razorback fans hope for chance to appear on network with poor accessibility, SEC could finish with as few as three teams in super regionals

FRISCO, Texas – Typically, the often high maintenance fan base at Arkansas would jump up and down and stomp a box of the first tomatoes of the season into ketchup at the idea of playing a regional game on ESPN+, but today it's a request right next to Sister Mable's surgery in the church bulletin.

After seeing Vanderbilt get bounced unceremoniously, the Razorbacks are looking to avoid following the Commodores out the door by forcing a pair of games against a TCU team that has posted 38 runs the last two times the Hogs faced them. The first game will take place at 2 p.m. on ESPNU, but the deciding game will be on ESPN+ if Arkansas can figure out how to stop giving up grand slams to TCU's Tye Richardson like he's some scientific experiment that spliced Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire together with a hint of Ken Griffey, Jr. mixed in.

Meanwhile, Florida looks to avoid elimination also while LSU looks to blow up the dam that is keeping the Oregon St. Beavers in the water logged bayou. Texas A&M will also look to take the rubber game against Stanford to advance while Kentucky seeks to beat back a stuff challenge from Indiana in a Game 7 in Lexington.

That means the SEC has five potential super regional spots left in play. By the end of the day, what is considered to be the top league in college baseball could have as many as eight, or as few as three teams in the final 16 that advance to the super regionals.

KENT SMITH

Kent Smith has been in the world of media and film for nearly 30 years. From Nolan Richardson's final seasons, former Razorback quarterback Clint Stoerner trying to throw to anyone and anything in the blazing heat of Cowboys training camp in Wichita Falls, the first high school and college games after 9/11, to Troy Aikman's retirement and Alex Rodriguez's signing of his quarter billion dollar contract, Smith has been there to report on some of the region's biggest moments.
